Something I did last summer and appear to be doing this summer is reading like a fiend. Okay, perhaps that is a lie as I'm sure others have been reading far more than I have, BUT. With my lifeguarding job I'm typically given ample time to read, something which I want to encourage. Maybe it's to brag, maybe it's for my own self satisfaction, but here's a list of books I will have read by Summer 2009.

So I find it hilarious that I was the first one to find this meme, but the last to fill it ( out )

Wow, I just discovered that my favorite author from childhood/adolescence has a livejournal, and the more I read and the more nerdy I see her the more my excitement grows. It makes me want to pick up my old books and reread them, and catch up on her new stuff. It's like watching a celebrity!

Not too long ago I filled up my sketchbook, and last night I finished Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky.

I'm not going to go into details about it, since I know at least one person who reads my livejournal intends to read it and doesn't want it spoiled, but I have to say something about it. ( no real spoilers, but just in case )

I always find there's something a little sad about finishing something you've been really invested in for some time. Bittersweet's the word, I guess.

HAHA I should probably label this journal as "A Book Spazz and Sometimes Art" journal, seeing as how that's all I seem to be doing lately. MAJOR LOL.

So. I finished The Awakening by Kate Chopin.

Didn't like it. At all. Blech.

Kendra, post something soon. I want to read something that's actually good and one that I enjoy. If worst comes to worst I'll read more of The Idiot. That book never fails to entertain me.

So I started The Idiot by Dostoevsky.

I...I think I'm in love. I haven't enjoyed reading a book this much since American Psycho although this book has made me feel really really dumb. Does anyone know what "the falling sickness" or "St. Vitus's dance" refers to?
