It's getting close to the end of the year, and I'm starting to get that claustrophobic-stress feeling, so it's time for my list of things to get done:

Oh wow, today is going so much better than yesterday did. The exam I had to take was really easy (thank you childhood spent watching National Geographic!) and when I talked to the Tech guys (who had previously said that I hadn't turned in my video camera when I had; the fee was 25 dollars a day) they said that basically it was likely a mix-up on their end and that I wouldn't have to worry about being fined.

I can't explain the relief I felt as I walked to the art building. It was almost palpable. I felt so utterly good that I gave the Clean Water group like, three bucks. Even though it was so small, I thought the guy who took the money was going to cry he was so happy. It made me feel really good, even though I didn't do too much.

Running into David Rutz, and looking around the BFA gallery and subsequently running into Jory was nice too. It seems like almost all of the ills of yesterday resolved themselves today, which is just a ... huge weight off of my shoulders. I'm fussing around with Maya in Intro to Digital now but things should be fine. Today is looking to be a lot better.

I love it when I want to work on an art project in the AV, but I have to spend an hour cleaning the supplies in order to get anything done. On the bright side, via Pandora I got to hear a bunch of pretty awesome songs!

Anywho, back to work on my painting.

Memo to self: next time you set your alarm, make sure you keep your glasses on so you don't mess up your clock and wake up at 10 instead of 8, oops.



Oh well. Got to sleep in, right? That was nice.

So I got out of work early (I work in my dorm's food hall, o joy) which was nice, so I decided to update this thing. I've been thinking some more about my college career/plans/what have you, and I've decided to rethink my Art History minor.

And I just recieved an email reminding me that scheduling for Spring 2008 is coming up on November 3rd at 9:00 AM, which obviously means I have to be ridiculous and type up all of the classes I'm interested in maybe taking up a month in advance. For those ( interested )

Oh my fuckin' god

So I've been back to college for a couple days now, and I've gone through all of my classes. I've been kept really busy, between being cheerful for the new freshman in the Arts Village, meeting up with my friends from the Comic Book Club, going to classes, arranging honors stuff and just generally adjusting to all of the changes. I miss a lot of things about home, but I see how much I missed everything college related this summer. Everything has it's ups and downs, after all.

To wrap this up--my classes are awesome, as are the majority of the people I've been talking to. Yay :)

17 credit hours, though I know what Taiko'll entail (though I'm not too happy about taking it again) and one is a total joke. Still, looks like fun!

While some great things have been going on in my life (Niagra Falls, chilling with fam & friends, having a pretty great job that pays well) I'm going to focus on the ( negative! )

I have a week of exams left, and then I will be done with my first year of college. It feels like the time just flew by. I have some goals and hopes for this summer:

--GET A JOB. Hopefully somewhere good--book store, art supply store or video rental store are my top three, in that order.

--FRIENDS AND FAMILY. Spend time with them--hang out, go to things, plan fun get togethers, etc.

--RELAX. Stress was something I struggled with this semester, and as great as the above thing is, I'm going to make sure to take time for myself and just chill with a book and a glass of icewater in the shade outside.

--READ. I really feel like I fall out of the habit of reading, so I'm going to make a list and do my best to finish it before school starts. Suggestions are welcome!

--DRAW. Biggie. My main goal is to get Tommyrot ironed out and started, but more than that I'm going to draw every day (even if it's crappy) and try to sit down and do a charcoal drawing one time this summer.

I hope to save up to buy a cheap car, and I have two pets I'm getting from my floor--two mice. They're so adorable. So yeah, if anyone has any suggestions, books or general activities/things to do, I'd love to hear them!

Don't you just love it when you're near tears as you're going to class because you didn't finish that 9-12 page paper that's due, only to find out that--on a day you skipped in order to finish a children's book--they moved the due date to Monday, and no one warned you?

I'm not so sure I could find a big enough size for the ORZ I want to write :'(

What made today better was sitting outside with a Hambrosia sandwich from Steak Escape and a bottle of pink lemonade, and just munching away under a tree. Feeling the breeze and watching the grass twitch calmed me down a hell of a lot :'>

Now off to sleep until 2:00, where I have to get up to go to a mandatory Foundations get-together and then our final Taiko performance.

Alright! Day's been going pretty well!

Went to class, came back and slept for a long time (3:00!), scheduled my classes for next year, and have been doing art since! ...a-and switching around my icons yet again.

But more excitedly, I have all of my drawings for my book drawn out! I only need to finish inking two pages, and watercolor them! Hard work does pay off, it seems!

It's 7:04 am. I have not slept.

I hate children's books

:'(

My room is clean, my clothes are clean, my body is clean. That is a very satisfying feeling.

Glad the weekend is here, for all that it's freezing and snowing (again). I've been feeling both under the weather and a little strung out, so I'm looking forward to sleeping and doing art. It will be so relaxing.

Also, I'm really excited about the 29th--I'm going on a day trip to Detroit to visit the art museum there! I love art museums omg, I want to live in one. Or work for one. I swear, if being a docent was both a job and something they let people under eighty do, I would be all over that.

Also, I'm in love with The Dresden Dolls again ♥

So, got a B+ for my drawing portfolio, which has...humbled me a bit! Favorite excerpt from my professor's comments: "Line work good. Charcoal--you make good marks--watch the mark making with the eraser." It made me smile.

And, because if I ever finish things like this, I need this setup that I can keep updating--Children's Book Progress!

...I love how it's now that I get a completely different idea for a children's book :(

It's not even thirty minutes into InDesign and already I'm ready to shoot myself. Figuring out how to establish type should not be this difficult!
