Wow has time gone by. I'm currently in training to be a Resident Advisor, and the schedule they keep us at is very brutal. Luckily for me I have really awesome people in my life who are doing super nice things for me. For example!

squidattack did this awesome watercolor drawing for me that I fully intend to frame and hang on a wall someday. I love it so so much.

Then spiderstars made me two icons that are so amazing. The only thing that makes it better is that they're icons of things she's drawn for ME. Plus she's working on an ass-kicking Ryxen story that is going to be amazing when finished.

I am so lucky to have awesome people in my life. Awesome people who flatter me and my vanity by drawing purdy pictures of me. My day is so much better!

This past week has been awesome. Drove up to BG, listened to Art Spiegelman talk about comics with Eric and Jessi, proceeded to scare Jory and Geneva away, worked making a comic for the library, read Swallow Me Whole by Nate Powell, spent more time with Eric and Jessi, planned stuff for comic club this year, had a Fantasia viewing with Eric/Jessi/Geneva/Jory, coffee (by which I mean hot chocolate) with Catey and then the drive back. I was all nerves on the way up, but on the way back the drive was actually pretty peaceful.

It's rained all day today, which meant I got a day off from work. So I spent my time buying comics online and shopping for a dress for my cousin's wedding. Just as I was starting to lose heart and be all "BWLAHHHG I AM FAT AND HAVE WEIRD LUMPS NOTHING WILL LOOK GOOD ON MEEEE" I found two adorable dresses at American Eagle that I proceeded to buy. ALWAYS IN THE NICK OF TIME, AMERICAN EAGLE! Classy.

So...yes! I'm quite happy as of right now :)

I love music. Who doesn’t? I also love discovering new things, which is entirely possible on the internet. I decided to make an LJ post about the music that’s been on repeat on my computer for the past week or so. Some of you may scoff, some of you may jeer, but others might be interested. If nothing else, it gave me an excuse to listen to these on repeat for a while :)

It's been a while since I've posted, though I've never been too good about that so that should come as a suprise to no one. So I'm going to update now.

Life's been pretty good, though there's been a couple downers, which are mainly internalized and are so abstract that I couldn't for the life of me point to exactly what it is. Probably the change of being back in college and away from home belatedly hitting me, but there's a good chance that isn't right.

Probably the thing most of you would be more concerned about than where I am right now is that I've...sorta made myself an artblog? I have nothing there, and it looks like nothing is really forthcoming, but if that's anyone's primary interest in this journal they're free to read that and not my everyday nerdy journal--I won't be hurt in the least. And if you're interested in both then...friend it if you'd like? I don't know, just thought I should mention it. It's here at kelfish for those interested! :)

So I've been back to college for a couple days now, and I've gone through all of my classes. I've been kept really busy, between being cheerful for the new freshman in the Arts Village, meeting up with my friends from the Comic Book Club, going to classes, arranging honors stuff and just generally adjusting to all of the changes. I miss a lot of things about home, but I see how much I missed everything college related this summer. Everything has it's ups and downs, after all.

To wrap this up--my classes are awesome, as are the majority of the people I've been talking to. Yay :)

Not too long ago I filled up my sketchbook, and last night I finished Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky.

I'm not going to go into details about it, since I know at least one person who reads my livejournal intends to read it and doesn't want it spoiled, but I have to say something about it. ( no real spoilers, but just in case )

I always find there's something a little sad about finishing something you've been really invested in for some time. Bittersweet's the word, I guess.

Yesterday I came down with something pretty terrible; my head hurt, my throat felt terrible, I had a bad cough and a runny nose, and my skin and bones felt pretty awful as well. I will say this for my body--the immune system's pretty good! After lots of sleep and vegging out in front of the TV I woke up today with the normal symptoms of a cold--a sore throat and a runny nose. Not bad, body. Not bad.

I've been back from college for a week now, and I have good news to report! I got all As in my classes! Considering I think I did that, like, twice in all of the time I was in school I'm pretty happy about that.

Also, I'm looking at being a lifeguard, of all things. Just have to make it through this weekend and pass the two tests, and then I'll have a hopefully employable skill.

Also--Ironman. Very enjoyable movie, in my opinion, for all that the portrayal of some middle eastern characters made me raise a hypothetical eyebrow (I sadly lack that skill) but good snark will almost always win me back. As will actiony things, like stuff exploding or men beating up men. I recommend with enthusiasm!

Edit: Dammit, I think something (likely a spider) bit my arm last night. At this rate I'm going to drown tomorrow!

Alright! Day's been going pretty well!

Went to class, came back and slept for a long time (3:00!), scheduled my classes for next year, and have been doing art since! ...a-and switching around my icons yet again.

But more excitedly, I have all of my drawings for my book drawn out! I only need to finish inking two pages, and watercolor them! Hard work does pay off, it seems!
